RANGE COURTESY/ COMMON
SENSE
It is unlikely that any manual of rules and
regulations can cover every possible shooting situation. Therefore,
it behooves all members to be courteous and use common sense on the
range.
No mechanical device has a will of its
own. A gun never "goes off" unless something causes it to do so.
The aspect of SAFETY is central to gun-handling. Firearms are as
safe or as dangerous as YOU make them. If the "FOUR RULES OF GUN
SAFETY" are always treated with absolute seriousness, all your
shooting will be safe and fun.
-
RULE 1: ALL GUNS ARE
ALWAYS LOADED.
-
RULE 2: NEVER LET THE
MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.
-
RULE 3: KEEP YOUR
FINGER OUT OF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET.
-
RULE 4: BE SURE OF YOUR
TARGET, know what it is, what is in line with it, and
what is behind it. Never shoot at anything you have not
positively identified.
If the farmer is working in the area,
either delay all shooting until he is totally clear or move to a
different berm.
Low velocity ammunition has a tendency
to "bounce back" if it is used on bowling pins or steel targets. Be
sure your ammunition is matched to the targets you are shooting.
Share the range with others. Don't set
up to shoot in a way that will prohibit others from using the range
as well.
Call the "line is hot" when you're ready
to shoot so other shooters may apply their hearing and eye
protection.
Consider the needs of your fellow
shooters. Frequently call for the line to clear so targets may be
checked.
Get acquainted with other members on the
range. Shooting experiences can be more enjoyable if they are
shared.

SAFETY |
 |
|
Because of the close proximity to fellow
shooters, and the styles and types of targets that are
available, SAFETY must be our most important concern. Please
review the club membership manual for rules.
