The Club regularly offers NRA
Basic and Advanced classes. The Club's support of young shooters
is evidenced by its annual Howell NRA Youth Shooting Sports Camp
held every summer. Registration for all training, classes and
the Howell NRA Youth Shooting Sports Camp is open to the public.
In addition to formal training programs, the
Howell Club has a variety of formal and informal shooting events
for its members. While some events are competitive in nature,
Club members view such events as an opportunity to get to know
one another and introduce their favorite shooting sport to
others.
The emphasis at all events is on safety, learning and having
fun. When you show up for an event for the first time, you won't
be made to feel like an intruder. We encourage members to
participate in all events.
Organized club shoots are held
the first Sunday of every month May - October, immediately after
the general membership meeting. These fun shoots are designed to
appeal to shooters at all levels of experience and to promote
friendly, inexpensive competition within the Club membership.
The event varies from month-to-month and may use a 22 rifle,
pistol or shotgun. It may include falling plates, frangible
targets or a trap shoot. Archery events may be paper target or
simulated hunting events. Whatever the Match Director dreams up
for a given month, you can be sure it will be fun for the entire
family.
For those interested in a more
casual shooting environment, Club facilities are plentiful
enough to allow at least one open shooting range during almost
all scheduled events.
